Despite a loss, the girls did their club proud, showcasing great teamwork and skill. This year marks the first time an under 15 competition has been introduced in the league, and the Roos proved they were up for competition.
From the first centre pass, the game was a shaping up to be a real tight contest. The Roo girls got off to a great start early, only to have the Raiders come back late in the first quarter to be up two goals at quarter time.

The rest of the game was played with the same intensity with the scores remaining close throughout. The defensive end was working hard to turn the ball over while the mids and attacking end worked together really well. The goal shooters showed great poise and accuracy with their shots on goal.
The last quarter was a real cliff-hanger, with the lead changing several times throughout, but it was the Raiders that finished off stronger with a three-goal win in the end.
Under 15s coach Noel Halton praised the girl’s effort in their first game.
“Our girls proved that they can match it with any team in the competition and they will only improve on Saturday’s amazing display teamwork,” he said.
