This event, now in its twelfth year, is renowned as the largest of its kind in Australia, drawing in over 200 players from across the nation to compete on its championship course.
Following the challenges posed by the devastating floods in November 2022, the golf club has made significant strides in preparing for this year’s event. Organiser Shaun Whitechurch expressed his excitement about the progress.
“The course is looking sensational, and we’re thrilled with the support from players and sponsors alike.”
One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Sportsman’s Night on Saturday, starting at 7 pm, featuring a terrific line-up of special guest speakers.
Collingwood legend Tony Shaw and former Australian Test and One Day International wicket-keeper batsman Wayne Phillips are confirmed to entertain attendees with their insights and experiences, both on and off the golf course. The night promises to be an engaging experience for players and their partners, with ‘Magro’ serving as the Master of Ceremonies.
This year’s competition boasts an exciting hole-in-one prize—a $20,000 local shopping voucher. Additionally, a new feature, the Target Shootout on the range sponsored by Mizuno, will replace the traditional sprint. This event, starting at 5:30 pm, offers all entrants two free balls with their entry fee and the opportunity to win $1,000 at 8:30 pm. The shootout is open to all, providing a fun and competitive twist to the weekend’s activities.
The Corowa Golf Club is proud to continue its tradition of hosting this esteemed event, which not only showcases the sport of golf but also supports the local community through significant economic contributions. Players from all over Australia are invited to join in what promises to be a memorable weekend of golf, camaraderie, and entertainment.
