Another AFL talent off the Goulburn Valley production line has locked in a new contract this week, with Shepparton’s Jarman Impey signing on the line for a three-year extension at Hawthorn.

Impey, 27, has confirmed he’ll remain a Hawk until at least the end of 2026 with the silky defender enjoying a sparkling season in the brown and gold.
Like Vandermeer, Impey’s 2022 campaign was impaired through injury, but Hawthorn’s number four has shone this season, averaging 19.3 disposals a game, including 14.3 uncontested possessions and 4.8 marks.

Hawthorn national list and recruiting manager Mark McKenzie was glad to have Impey on the books for another three years.
“We are thrilled Jars has shown his commitment in this new deal, it’s a real sign that he believes in the direction we are headed as a club,” McKenzie said.
“Along with Jars’ elite speed and line breaking ability, he importantly adds another layer of leadership for our young defenders, helping fast-track their development.
“Jars’ is among our most reliable performers each week; he provides great experience, and we see him being a crucial part of what we are trying to build here at Hawthorn.”
Impey joined Port Adelaide from Shepparton Swans as pick 21 in the 2013 national draft.
He played 75 times for the Power before being traded to Hawthorn in 2017, where he has gone on to play a further 88 AFL games and grow into a seasoned backman within the Hawks’ ranks.
Off the field, the proud Yorta Yorta man was also key in helping design the club’s 2023 Indigenous guernsey.
