Swimming over the last two weeks has proved difficult with turbulent weather.
Predicted thunderstorms over the last two Fridays caused the closure of the outdoor pool at the Aquatic Centre, resulting in both sessions being impacted. This resulted in the cancellation of the Sharks’ weekly Club Night which forms an integral part of our summer competition.
However, this did not stop nine enthusiastic swimmers from turning up last Friday. The club was graciously permitted to use the indoor lanes to run a mini short course (25m pool) time trial which was a hit with the swimmers.
Although the club were unable to use these times towards their point score, as it is a long course (50m pool) competition, these swimmers will still receive a point for Club Night participation.
Ethan, Nick, Rylee, Lucia, Oliver, Matilda, Abbey, Katelin and Lilyana were all determined to swim their best despite not being allowed to dive upon entry and having no flags to assist with their backstroke events.
Well done to all of these swimmers and many thanks to the parents who assist with club nights each week, and also at meets.
Ten swimmers from Corowa Sharks participate in the GT / Corryong Pennant held in Albury on Sunday January 30.
Once again, the kids smashed it! The first four races saw four new PBs, overall, there were 15 new PBs recorded for the day. Given the tumultuous lead up to the Pennant, it was an exceptional result.
Special mentions to:
Nick and Rylee Tukuniu who obliterated PB after PB and set the pool on fire!
Sophia and Alex Graham who blasted their way to all new personal records!
After crushing 15 individual PBs, the Sharks hit the relays joined forces with Rutherglen Swim Squad, and WOW, what a team! All kids joined in, raced with heart and left coaches and parents shrieking on the sidelines with excitement. The entire club was screaming, jumping with delight and thrilled at the spectacular performance.
The club couldn’t be prouder of its young members. GO SHARKS!!
