Yack are an extremely strong netball unit and the score reflected this throughout the entire day. Lexie Shannon was moved from defence to attack to gain some height and Lexie proved she can play at both ends. Jess Oats was good in the centre as usual.

B Grade
Cats 17, Yack 72
The girls were just never on in this game and struggled to contain the score, while they dominated turnovers, they couldn’t get the reward for their effort in the shooters circle. Matilda Poupa played well in defence while Aston Nicholl continued her strong showing in recent weeks.
C grade continued their improvement with coaching lesson from Nicole Balfour during the week assisting the shooters. Bree Fisher and Emma Hughes were both strong in the midcourt with relentless running and Emma Beattie holding the defence together. Maddie and Annabelle Hocking a welcome return.
Awards; Jack & The Fox – Emma Hughes, Baker Seed yeti – Bree Fisher.
Under 17s
Cats 27, Yack 63.
Good first and last quarters however the girls were let down by two poor quarters in the middle which cost them the game. The defence worked well all game, Annie Johnson and Freya Gniel tough to score against all game while Sarah Trevaskis was solid in the midcourt. Shooters Flick and Abbie worked hard however just couldn’t get enough shots on goal to sneak a win.
Despite the loss the girls worked hard until the end, shooters Alexandria and Grace worked well in the shooters circle with a long bomb from Alexandria on the final whistle a highlight. Midcourters Matilda and Faith continually pushed the ball to the shooters while defenders Maiya, Jacinta and Steph applied themselves forcing turnovers, a good performance against a good side.
Despite the close loss it was a fantastic performance with little separating the two sides for most of the game. The attack functioned well as Kaity Ford was once again dominate with her hardnosed approach to competitive netball. Defensive efforts from Tayla and Holly made the Yack shooters work very hard for their opportunities on goal, smallest player on the court with the biggest presence Harriet Way was once again everywhere with intercepts at will.
Awards; EDC Cash – Acacia Rhodes, Tupperware – Lexi Wilson.
Under 12s
Yack were great competition for the young early starters and the Cats girls rose to the occasion and were awesome all over the court, the return of Taylor Francis from a broken arm being the highlight, the pocket rocket was a welcome addition. The Cats are turning into a well drilled unit and worth the early rise to watch.
