A Grade has a strong performance today against Bulldogs at JF Oval, coming out winners 48-20.
The Roos welcomed Zoe McLeish and Amity Drayton back into the lineup today and celebrated Leah Bihun’s 50th O&M game.
From the first whistle, both teams showcased impressive skill and determination. The Roos took an early lead as the team executed their game plan across the court.
As the game progressed, the Roos continued, tightening the team’s full court defence and capitalising on turnovers. With exceptional teamwork and strategic play the Roos continued to extend the lead and maintain the team goals.
Awards: Brooke Cannon- another great performance in the mid court with her change of pace, positioning and intercepts. Sally Hunter- put out to GD for a run saw sally dictate, turnover lots of ball and as always, a strong vocal presence Zoe Prentice- the birthday girl had such a strong game shutting down the WA.
B Grade
Corowa 38 defeated by Wodonga Bulldogs 40
B Grade came into the game with the belief that we can challenge any team after knocking off top spot last week. We welcomed Macey Drayton and Brooke Bice back to the team, who brought drive from the defensive end to the mid-court.
We were four goals down at half time when reminded that we play our best netball when we get around one another, and within the first two and a half minutes, we had scored five unanswered goals to take the lead. From there it was goal-for-goal all game with our defenders creating plenty of opportunities.
Unfortunately, our excitement resulted in rushed play in the attack end causing errors and Bulldogs were able to convert those turnovers to goals, eventually resulting in a devastating two goal loss.
Although not the result we wanted on the day, as coaches, we are immensely proud of how far the girls have come and how they’re challenging teams the second time around.
Awards: Club 1: Courtney Haigh who finished the day with 6 intercepts and many rebounds. Club 2: Macey Drayton found her groove and provided lots of drive and plenty of turnovers in defence. Canteen: Chloe Gilcrist with her speedy drive into the ring, paired with an incredible leap pulling in some rebounds despite being the shortest in the ring.
C Grade
Corowa 39 defeated by Wodonga Bulldogs 47
C Grade had a great first half against the Bulldogs but unfortunately, we couldn’t hold our lead and let the Bulldogs take the second half.
Awards: Stephanie Sutcliffe with the players’ player. Club 1 went to our consistent and patient teammate in Brooke Tilyard. The Thrive award went to Maddi Simmons who is showing confidence in the ring and presented front well. Chelsea Parker had strong leads and centre breaks with little her defenders could cover.

Coming up against Bulldogs we knew it would be a tough game for the girls, but they pushed through every quarter.
We were let down by things out of our control, as well as some of our own mistakes. We knew we had nothing to lose therefore we tried some new plays and positions and the girls adapted really well to all the changes and pushed to the end.
The 17s are improving each week and are always willing to try the best they can.
Awards: Club 1: Kaitlyn Good, Corowa Chocolate Factory: Katy Prichard, Canteen: Rhianna Quinton.

It was a foggy morning when our girls took to the court against a top five side.
It took us a while to find our groove, but we found it in the second half. Unfortunately, the scoreboard damage was done in the first half, but the second half alone had a tiny two goal difference.
We picked up the tempo in defence and tightened up our play in attack and the girls found another gear, to which Wodonga had no answers.
These Roo girls are showing some real promise, they are girls to watch as they rise through the ranks.
