The plethora of young talent taking to the court at Rennie Recreation Reserve is the envy of the Picola District Netball League ranks.
In the A-grade, last year the Hoppers made a substantial leap, as their band of youngsters came together to reel off an impressive eight wins — six more than their 2021 return.
But what’s more exciting are the exploits of the club’s junior sides, with the under-17s and under-15s winning premierships.
A-grade coach and club legend Paula Mifka, who is returning for her second year at the helm, said she expected to see continued growth out of her side this season.
“This year’s lineup is going to be pretty similar to last year, the one difference is that we’ll have three under-17s players coming up who will be pushing to play A-grade,” Mifka said.
“It’s no secret our focus over the past five or so years has been junior development, and having had some success in the juniors, now is the time to see that translate to the seniors.
“After a couple years of improvement the next step for us is the finals, and I am confident with the side we have we can get to that point.”
