Corowa recorded a comfortable win against Everton Red on Saturday and have enhanced their position on the ladder to be the main challengers to competition favourites Rutherglen.
Corowa were always in total control and never look likely to lose as the gap between the top teams and the next tier becomes apparent.
Claire Davidson, Jo Brookes and Peter Filliponi lead the way for Corowa and Steve Russell, Jenny Cooper and Jo Lucas put some respectability on the scoreboard for Everton Red.
Hardcourt Pinkertons were easy winners against Everton Blue although the scoreboard didn't reflect Everton Blue's efforts.
They should have recorded more games but the depth of the Pinkerton side ensured the scoreboard had them well ahead at the finish.
Kylie Doig, Chris Lucas and Matt Lucas were the standouts for Pinkertons while Eleisha Kneebone, Ruth Kneebone and Robert Voss were Everton Blue's best.
Rutherglen flexed their muscles on Saturday at the expense of the young Hardcourt Pulvirenti team and showed that they are the team to beat this year.
The inexperienced Pulvirenti team went close to adding more sets to their tally losing 2 tie break sets, but it was the tennis acumen and experience of Rutherglen that denied them the sets.
Rachel Crawford, Helen Fuge and Josh Quick were outstanding for Rutherglen and Hardcourt Pulvirenti's Chris Lestino, Henery Dean, Ray Munari and Lucas Alexander battled against the odds.
Wahgunyah completed the top echelon domination on Saturday when they defeated Boorhaman with comparative ease. Boorhaman started well taking 2 of the first 6 sets to be completed to at least provide a glimmer of hope. However, that hope was soon extinguished as Wahgunyah went on the rampage to win the last 3 sets easily.
Shirley Fuller, Kirsty Tyers and Sally O'Donoghue were excellent for Boorhaman while Wahgunyah had none better than Travis McDonald, Ethan Palmer and Max Harvey.
Section 3
Wahgunyah United (Rob Hill, Matt Davis, Clara Davis, Brian) and Wahgunyah Deep Heat (Josh Reid, Jacob Palmer, Katie Bergin, Kendall Reid) contested the closest match of the round, the result was always in doubt until the last point had been won.
With two 8-7 and two 8-6 sets (which Deep Heat lost all) the result. could have been much closer than the 5-1 result to United.
Deep Heat can be very proud of their efforts and with a bit of luck and steadiness under pressure they will improve in the future.
Wahgunyah Wahnation (Ollie Struve, Kane Palmer, Jack Reid, Brett Skinner) ran away to be comfortable victors over Wahgunyah Wranglers (Wayne Johnstone, Sonia Palmer, Alison Bartel, Jaxx Johnstone) in a one-sided affair.
Sonia and Jaxx put some credibility to the score line winning the final set for Wranglers otherwise it was a bleak day for the Wranglers.
Boorhaman (Merryne Byrne, Jack Keys, Nathan Parke, Sharon Cleal) are steadily climbing the Section 3 ladder with another victory over Wooragee (Dean Bensted, Bron Martin, Eiylish McRostie, Julianna).
Boorhaman have been the dark horses so far this season in Section 3 and with their steady improvement each week they could be a major player come finals time if they can hold their form.
