Finals spring weather was also on display, changing the pace and intensity of each game.
C Grade came home with the only win for the netballers to stay in the running for another week. Despite the Under 17’s best efforts, they were unable to get through. B grade went down in a nail biter but have a second chance this Sunday.
The Roos would like to thank their amazing supporters who came along on Saturday and Sunday to support all teams and the thirds as well! A sea of blue and white!
B Grade
Roos 44 def by Albury 45
A strong fought battle by the B Grade on Saturday against Albury Tigers. The game went down to the wire and unfortunately, the B Grade girls lost by a stinging 1 goal.
They will regroup this week at training and are keen to take on Myrtleford next Sunday.
Awards:
Zali Spencer- such a versatile player Zali played in all three sections of the court creating havoc!
Zoe McLeish- from one end of the court to the other, Zoe proved she dominates the ring.
Ella Kingston- so strong in the mid court, Ella provided continual drive and opportunities for our attack end.
C Grade
Roos 32 def North Abury 30
The team played very well together and really wanted to win to continue through to next week.
The girls fought hard every single second of the game it got close to the end however the ladies showed a lot of controlled and positive netball.
C Grade is thrilled to be able to keep the finals campaign going and will prepare for a different team this week.
Awards:
Bec Kuschert - her constant fight for the ball was a contributing factor in winning the game for the Roos. She was on a number of different opposition players and adjusted well to all of them.
Lily Hanrahan- wow, she has so much confidence in the game and was shooting amazing as well as taking the time to position herself well in the ring.
Jemma Smith - Jem went into a few positions on the weekend and absolutely killed every single one of them. The fight in wing defence to shut the WA down was great then to transition into C and work with the shooters in feeding was amazing.
Under 17s
Roos 45 defeated by North Albury 50
What a game and what a season! The girls came out firing on all cylinders and brought the intensity and energy needed.
The shooters were on song, shooting accurately. The mid courters were so smooth down court and found the confidence to release the ball with the ease today. The defenders also worked tirelessly in the heat and never gave up.
Overall, the club couldn’t be prouder of the girls efforts to go down by 5 goals.
The young Roo netballers have grown so much as a team throughout the season and to be the first Corowa Rutherglen under 17s to play finals is something they should hold their heads high for.
They did the club and themselves proud. It has been a pleasure to see these girls blossom as netballers.
