There’s something stirring at Moama Recreation Reserve.
Falling at the preliminary final stage last season to eventual premiers Mulwala, the Magpies are in the box seat to claim their first flag since 2010 after bolstering the squad with a swag of experienced faces.
Goulburn Valley League flag winners Brad Edwards, Sean Dillon and Jack Sheldon have further added to the club’s “Kyabram connection”, while Ryan Hudson crosses over from Rumbalara.
With the added talent of key defender Kyal Atkinson and country football legend Kristan Height in tow, Moama will come in as one of the Murray League’s premiership favourites.
Moama assistant coach Jye Warren is aware expectations on the club will be high with such a talented list.
“We were pretty disappointed with the performance against Mulwala in the preliminary final, but in that last month of footy we had some great wins against some quality sides,” Warren said.
“Everyone’s going to have some high expectations, but we’re just taking it round by round — we don’t want to look too far ahead.
“With the blokes we’ve brought on we think we can go a bit further.
“They’ve brought a wealth of knowledge and leadership qualities which is something we lacked a bit last year.
“Everyone’s buying in.”
