The champion Australian Test cricketer will be at the most picturesque setting in time for a 7.00pm for 7.30pm start to proceedings, similar to the Lord Ian Botham night in February last year.
The now 62-year-old high order batsman is arguably Tasmania’s all-time favourite son.
In Test Cricket from 1984 to 1996, Boon amassed 7422 runs, including 21 centuries, 32 fifties, a highest score of 200, at an average of 43.6.
He compiled a total of 5914 runs in one day cricket, a highest score of 122 and an average of 37.
Boon was also a brilliant close-in, ‘stupid’ mid-on, short leg type fieldsman. Who could ever forget that catch off Shane Warne’s bowling for the spinning great’s hattrick against England at the MCG in 1994?
Officials at the Roos cricket club are rapt to have the courageous batsman who recently said he was never scared of any bowler, just some were more of a challenge than others.
“He’s a legend,” Corowa Cricket Club President Paul Lavis told The Free Press. “The evening’s $100 entry as per our 100 Club (which includes meal) or if you just want to come down and hear the great man, it’s $60 admission.
“These opportunities don’t happen every week or every year, so come on down and hear Boonie.”
