Butson is an elite runner who accumulates a lot of ball through the midfield. He is a very good decision maker with ball in hand and will add a lot to the Roos’ midfield brigade.
This season he won Central Trinity Beach’s Senior B & F and finished third in the AFL Cairns league medal.
Butson has been invited to do pre-season with Collingwood VFL and is excited to test himself at a higher level. He will relocate to the region and work locally.
At the 2023-initiated Bulldogs Academy, Butson was an ideal role model and player mentor for the juniors. His skill and exemplary character made him the perfect candidate to help lead the Bulldogs Academy. His ability to connect with young players and his passion for the game are truly inspirational.
The Roos are also thrilled to welcome home former 60-plus gamer with the club, Matt Wilson.
Wilson has recently been playing in the Hume league where he established himself as one of the premier onballers in the competition.
The club is extremely thrilled to announce the signing and the return of Paddy Lavis, one of the most dynamic forwards in the U18’s O&M competition when at Corowa.
He was a key member of Lavington’s U18’s premiership in 2023 and was instrumental in the 2022 grand final for the Roos’ U18s.
Lavis has recently had a full season of senior footy where he established himself as one of the rising stars of the Hume League.
His electric pace and silky skills will be assets back at the John Foord Oval.
Bailey Pirnag has been re-signed. ‘Nagger’ played every senior match this season and was a core pillar of our backline; is one of the hardest workers on the track and on game day.
Jed Ansell has been re-signed. He was one of the core members of the local training group this season. Travelling from Albury, Ansell rarely missed a session.
Peter Whyte has also re-signed. A former U18’s player who has played 100 games for the club, he has recently been playing in the Hume league and prior to that was training for a marathon.
Young forward Fletcher Parker will also join the Roos from the Holbrook Football Club in the Hume League where he has played all of his junior and senior football.
The young 21 year old Fletcher has already played 60 plus senior games of football and is excited to develop his game at a higher level. In 2023 he finished the season with 35 goals.
Fletcher is a very tough and contested player who loves to lay a tackle. He has a terrific goal sense and is extremely crafty in the forward half. He is never one to shy away from hard work and cannot wait to get stuck into pre season.
