“That’s going to be case with funds raised tallying over $6000,” co-organiser, Corowa Police Sergeant Steve Marshall, told The Free Press.
Corowa/Howlong Police from the Murray River Police District in conjunction with the Howlong Golf and Bowls Club ran the second, and successful Murray River Police and Community Charity Bowls Day at Howlong Golf and Bowls Resort.
“I am continually surprised by the generous nature of the Corowa and Howlong communities when it comes to a great cause. They always turn up,” Sgt. Marshall said.
Twenty teams comprising police, retired police, emergency services, community groups and avid bowlers turned up for the fine-weather day hosted by the
Organisers would like to publicly acknowledge the numerous Howlong and Corowa area business houses for their valued contributions on the day.
Special thanks need to be made to the Howlong Golf and Bowls Resort for hosting the day and Willet’s Transport Corowa for paying for the food provided for lunch.
All that was required was for Howling Bowls Club members to preparing the salads and cook the barbeque.
“None of this wouldhave been possible without Brad Blanchard from Howlong Bowls Club organising the draw and the meals with the assistance of his committee,” Sgt. Marshall said.
The event’s massive raffle had 60 prizes on offer ranging from wine packs, meal vouchers, shopping vouchers to a Microwave generously donated by Betta Electrical Corowa.
