Rutherglen Lake Rowing Club had a very successful weekend at the MRA Rowing Regatta at Lake Moodemere.

Matilda Cheeseman and Olivia White competed for the first time at a rowing regatta and they both performed admirably.
Olivia White teamed up with Jacinta Fisher to win the female under 15 double sculls on both days of the regatta. Jacinta was able to turn the table on her Corowa Rowing Club opponent by having a vastly improved row on the Sunday and also winning the female under 15 single sculls.
Rory and Henry Somerville teamed up with Jo Somerville and her doubles partner, Lily Rose Krause, in the mixed quad sculls. They had a great race with three other crews before coming away over the last 100m with a win. It was Rory, Henry and Jo’s first win in a rowing regatta as well.
Lily Rose Krause and Jo Somerville improved with each race over the weekend. On Sunday in the final of the B Grade quad sculls, they came through a high quality field to win the final in the last stroke of the race.
Jacinta Fisher and Olivia White won the female under 15 double sculls on both days of the regatta.
Their highlight for the regatta was in the final of the A Grade Double Sculls were they moved out with the more fancied crew from Essendon and maintained the pressure on their opponents through the entire race. A final kick to the finish line meant that they pulled away in the last 100m to win another thrilling race.
Rutherglen Lake Rowing Club would like to thank all of our volunteers who assisted us in the preparation of the food for the catering and in the running of the food stall. The level of support was inspiring.
