Daysdale Football Club, which is now part of the CDHBU merged identity, is marking the 30th reunion of its 1994 premiership and the 60th reunion of its 1964 cup triumph.
Former club secretary Nigel Norman said all nine surviving members of the ’64 premiership were expected to be in attendance with a similarly good turnout from the ’94 players, ex-Pies travelling from as far as Queensland for the event.
The ’64 side finished second and won straight through to the decider but in 1994, the club’s centennial year, the Pies finished third and had to turn around a five-goal deficit at three-quarter-time in the semi-final to take the flag.
“It was a very big year, a great year, and it turned out a lot better than we thought it would be,” Norman said.
The reunion will be held at Coreen during CDBHU’s home match, and a bus will take attendees to the ground from the Newmarket Hotel in Corowa from 12.30pm.
The two premiership flags will be unveiled before the senior match, and a barbecue tea and possible screening of the 1994 decider will follow the match.
Daysdale merged with Coreen in 1996 with the former secretary saying the clubs had “really come together fantastically.”
Daysdale won 12 premierships overall, including seven in the Coreen and District League.
