The club’s A2 side travelled to Benalla to play on greens that were in surprisingly good condition considering they were under water a few days prior.
Raz Porter’s rink were far too strong for the opposition, coming away with a decisive win.
The Andy Dickins and Allen Bartlett rinks had a tougher game but both came out on top after 21 ends.
The final score was RSL 64 shots and 16 points to Benalla 40 shots and zero points.
The club’s B1 side had a hard game against a strong Mansfield side. Janet Davis’s rink had a narrow win, but both the David Lewis and Alan Holmquest rinks went down.
Final scores were RSL 36 shots and 2 points to Mansfield 79 shots and 14 points.
The B2 side travelled to Chiltern and found the green a bit too heavy for their liking. Sam Nixon’s rink got up by 8 shots, but both the Laurie Way and Peter Mills rinks went down. The final score was RSL 45 shots and 2 points to Chiltern 65 shots and 14 points.
There were too few players for a social bowls competition on Wednesday, October 19, however several members enjoyed the pleasant weather for a roll up.
A semi- final of the Men's Triples was played and the team of Roger Mathers, Allen Bartlett and Andy Dickins were too strong for Roly Nixon, Frank Gee and Sam Nixon, winning 18 to 7. Both Men’s and Ladies Triples finals will be played soon.
The Thursday Night Rollers got under way in good weather conditions on Thursday, October 20. There were over 50 bowlers of all ages participating. They enjoyed a BBQ and a game of 12 ends, including 2 power play ends. Resting toucher prizes were won by Peter Mills and Stella Tucker. The winning team, with 14 shots up was made up of Keith Mills, Lissy Mills and Steve Hicks who received gift vouchers provided by the RSL Club.
