Corowa’s rowers made the journey to Bendigo to begin the 2024-25 season. Strong tail winds early made for fast times over the 480m short course and a fantastic way to begin the racing season with 23 crews competing.

The Male A grade single sculls of Brad Pearsall and Lachie Seymour were up first, with 4 heats a win was required to progress through to the final.
Up first was Lachie who had a great start to take the early lead and hold on for the win. Brad was in the 4th heat with a full field of 4 scullers, a great race down the course with Brad finishing in 2nd place.
Lachie lined up in the final featuring 4 scullers. After a fast start the scullers settled with a close finish. Lachie finished in 2nd place.
Next up were the heats of the Female U17 single sculls featuring Sommers Hogan and Imogen Wragge.
Sommers was in the first heat and in her first race returning from injury last year, she showed great technique to take the win.
Imogen lined up in the 3rd heat, lining up against 3 scullers needing a win to join Sommers in the final.
Getting a clean start Imogen made a strong move as she powered away to claim the win.
The two Corowa Scullers lined up against the private school scullers from Melbourne.
Sommers set the early pace as the race was on with Imogen close by.
With a close finish, Sommers finished 1/2 a second in front of the Melbourne sculler with Imogen a length back in 3rd place.
The new combination of Imogen Tomlinson and Phoebe Packer teamed up in the C grade double scull.
Lining up in the 4th heat a win was required to move through to the final.
The Corowa crew showed great teamwork to take the lead from the start and hold on for the win. The final was a close race with little separating the entire field as the 4 doubles settled.
With the final sprint to the line, the Corowa crew finished strongly in 2nd place.
The Female Masters quad scull had 2 seat changes due to illness with Footscray Rowing Club providing 2 scullers to join Susie Scott, Liz Sandow and Cox Will Hogan.
The Composite crew showed great teamwork to lead all the way and claim the clubs first win.
The Premier sculling race was the Male A Grade quad scull featuring Brad, Lachie, Lachie Hogan, Liam Fitzgerald and Cox Hunter Mills.
With the 4 quads lining up in the final, a fast race with the tail wind conditions saw the Corowa crew take the lead and record a great win.
The female C grade quad scull had the new combination of Indi Hogan, Imogen Tomlinson, Liz, Eva Broad and cox Will.
Getting out cleanly the Corowa crew took the lead and raced a controlled race to move into the final.
With the 3 heat winners lining up, the Corowa crew continued their great form to claim another win.
Liam Fitzgerald teamed with Nick Wragge in the C grade double scull. Needing to win their heat the crew came up against a tough field to just miss out on making the final.
The club had two entries in the B grade single with Bella Heagney and Abby Richards entered and lining up in different heats.
First up was Abby who showed her class and experience to lead all the way and progress through to the final.
Bella coming off a strong hockey season and limited time in the single, joined Abby in the final by winning the 2nd heat.

With the two scullers lining up in the final, Abby continued her great form at the regatta to take the win with Bella closing the gap finishing in 2nd place.
Abby and Bella teamed up with Imogen and Eva with cox Hunter in the B grade quad scull.
With two heats, a top two placing was required to make the final.
The new combination started cautiously as they gained race speed the crew finished 2nd and progressed to the final.
With 4 quads lining up in the final, little separated all the crews as the Corowa crew finished strongly in 3rd place.
The Clubs Under 17 females teamed up in the quad scull, Indi, Imogen, Phoebe ,Sommers and cox Will had a task against the Private schools from Melbourne and Ballarat.
The first goal was a top two placing to progress through to the final. Corowa girls took the early lead to claim the win.
The final featured 4 quads sculls with the Corowa crew throwing out the challenge to the rest of the field to lead all the way and claim a great win against strong competition.
The Female Master double scull featured the new combination of Susie and Liz against a 4 crew final.
The new combination showed great boat speed to get out fast and hold on for the win.
The mixed events are a fun race with the club having two crews entered in the quad sculls.
The first final featured Imogen Wragge, Lachie Seymour, Brad Pearsall, Abby Richards cox Will Hogan.
The Crew showed their class after taking the early lead. They controlled the race to claim the win.
The 2nd Corowa crew of Bella ,Eva ,Lachie Liam and Hunter lined up against a strong field with little separating the 4 crews the Corowa quad finished in 3rd place.
Brad and Lachie teamed up in the A grade double scull with 8 crews entered two heats and a top two finish was required to progress.
The first goal was achieved to finish in second place in the heat, the final was another step up in class with a great battle between the 4 crews with the Corowa crew finishing in 3rd place.
Bella and Eva teamed up in the B grade double scull winning their heat. The crew improved their time in the final to finish in 2nd place.
Imogen and Liz lined up in the C grade single scull.
With 16 entries and 4 heats ,a win was required to progress through to the final.
Heat 1 featured Imogen who had a great row with limited training time, showing great technique to finish in 3rd place.
Liz continues to improve with each row in the single and in a tight battle down the course finishing in 2nd place.
The final event for the club was the mixed double sculls. The aim was to try some different combinations.
Final 1 featured Phoebe and Lachie Hogan, having their first race together the crew had a great row finishing in 2nd place.
The 2nd final had Sommers and Liam racing together. They showed great form to race strongly to also finish in 2nd.
The Club had a great time winning 8 races and finishing 2nd in 7 finals setting the club up for another strong season.
Thanks to the parents and helpers for their assistance over the weekend. Coaches and Rowers will now set up training times for Crews as we prepare for the regattas leading into Christmas.
The Clubs Open day, working in with Veterans week, was held on Sunday 20th. A great turnout and thanks to Rowing Victoria and Chris from Invictus.
New members are always welcome to call in for a look around the facilities and to find out more about the sport.
The Club is open Sunday mornings from 9.00am and Monday - Thursday from 4.30pm.
