A remarkable turnout for the Bears Farmer and Sponsor’s Day saw a good crowd for the senior’s game.
Despite the challenge of recruiting additional players from the reserves this week, the team managed to rise above and deliver a commendable performance.
The Bears made a steady start, securing a slight lead at quarter time. Notably, Big Mick displayed exceptional skills in containing Strawny, while Oscar dominated the back line with his impressive intercepting marks.
Jye demonstrated his return to form by effectively thwarting any attempts from the opposition. Lachy, positioned in the forwards, has undeniably emerged as a key target, showcasing impeccable accuracy in his plays.
Al's unwavering efforts in the ruck have been truly exceptional, with Jim utilizing his strength to clear the ball from the centre.
The final quarter seen the boys increase the lead and finished it off strong.

Reserves
Tungamah 20.13.133 def Rennie 1.4.10
Well, there is only two teams the scribe likes to see win in the PDFNL, that’s the Bears and whoever plays Rennie, so noticeably the pressure was on the lunchtime legends this week.
With twos day booked in, the seriousness of the day was understood.
Reserves cult hero, legend and post-game antic specialist, the honourable Ada Connell was called in to give the boys a pre-game address.
If any of the blokes playing were old enough to remember him, the scribe is sure they would have been inspired.
Five minutes in and it looked like ‘Patches’ day was done, hobbling from the ground like he’d had endured a challenging evening.
However, returned to the field shortly after, as the trainers are recognised after performing yet another miracle.
MK thought he was unstoppable trying to bounce the ball on water.
Smitty must have forgot where the back flank is in his 12 weeks away, streaming down the wing, with the stiff arm fend off and slotting one from 65 out hemmed on the boundary.
If you saw it can you head to his socials and vote on his poll if you think he looked more like Dusty or Buddy. He’s been asking everybody.
The heavy machinery around the ground for Farmer’s Day had Henderson riled up. The old fella must act as a rudder pointing him in the right direction, because he kicked true, slotting 11 majors.
Word is the glitter pen ran out of ink keeping big Dimma’s stats in a return to career best form. Belly must be working undercover at training. Whilst the scribe doesn’t think many of the boys have been to America, they were in some states by the end of the day.
Goals: J Henderson 11, D Payne 2, M Bourke 2, C Bozzola, J Jones, B Smith, J Kelly, M Goldman.
Awards: J Jones – Ricky D’s, M Goldman – Tungamah Pub, H Thomson – Hick’s Butchery, J Costigan – Intersport.
Thirds
Tungamah 11.14.80 def Rennie 2.3.15
The conditions weren't great as Tungamah faced their friendly rivals, Rennie. The boys had a slow start and it looked like it was going to be a bit of a scrappy game.
Second quarter was better, but Tunga still wasn't playing at 100%. The boys were having to work harder to get the ball moving in these difficult conditions.
Third quarter was a continued fight and it seemed as though Tunga were underestimating some of Rennie's smaller players. This saw Rennie closing the gap on the score a little.
In the final quarter, Tunga picked up again, with some good passages of play resulting in scoring more goals than the previous quarter.
Even though they kicked a lot of points, the boys got the job done and came away with the win.
Goals: M Beer 3, B Grant, J Arnold, B Krywyn, S Bainikoro, L Walls, N Dickins, A Doyle, J Goldman.
Awards: L Walls - Doyles Sock, J Arnold - Coaches Award, D Thomas - Credit Union, M Beer - Hemphill Family, K Michael - Home Game Football Award, S Bainikoro - Tungamah Shop.
Fourths
Tungamah 20.20.140 def Rennie 1.1.7.
The boys took on Rennie where the ground was enveloped in a dense layer of fog. This created a challenge for the scorers, as the computer's signal was unable to reach the scoreboard through the thick fog.
However, this obstacle did not hinder the young Bears from finding the scoring ends. The boys consistently impressed with their remarkable improvement and exceptional teamwork.
Every kid gave their all when on the ground.
Everyone is so excited to watch these boys over the next few weeks, leading into finals.
Goals: B Doyle 10, J Bamford 6, C Payne 2, T Ussher, R Johnson.
Awards: X Chessells – Tungamah Shop, T Ussher – Bamford Builders, C Beggs – Rich Glen, T Lawrence – Intents Fishing, T Hooke – Doyles Socks.
Fifths
On a cold and foggy morning, the Bear cubs looked forward to taking on a well drilled Rennie side.
A full contingent was available for both sides, and it was an absolute ding dong battle.
Mate against mate, school friend against school friend. Both sides played a great game in great spirits and fought their way through the fog and mud.
Thanks to Rennie for another great morning and to Archie Doyle who regularly puts his hand up to umpire these little legends. Well done Arch.
Awards: C Cooper – Rich Glen, C Parker – TFNC, L Walls – Tungamah Shop. K Sidebottom – TFNC.
