NCN Health director of operations Justin Sullivan described the project as “incredibly exciting and important for the community” and said it was made possible by the Victorian Government’s 2020/2021 Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.
The funding is designed to expand capacity, improve safety, quality and efficiency, and deliver better care to patients, without limitations on location.
He said despite the recent wet weather, the project was on track to see part of urgent care reopened by December this year, with a final completion date for the first quarter of 2024.
“The new concrete slab was poured in June, providing a good insight into the footprint of the redevelopment,” Mr Sullivan said.
“The steelwork for the new building was delivered in July and the framework for the new space is currently in construction.”
Mr Sullivan reminded the community that the health service was open throughout the build.
“Access to the health service, including acute ward, urgent care centre, x-ray and ultrasound, is still via the main entrance. Please follow the signs and stay on the footpath,” he said.
“Theatre services are paused in Cobram for the duration of the project, and patients are able to access theatre services in Numurkah.
“GPs can continue to refer patients for surgical procedures as normal.”
Patients will still be able to access the same surgeons and theatre at Numurkah campus.
