The decorating of the towns this year was made through a joint effort from the members of the recently formed Corowa Events Group, which includes Rotary, Lions, Apex, and the Regional Business Chamber.
This group, along with several local businesses and community members, came together to bring the festive spirit to Corowa in a big way with Corowa Business Chamber Committee member John Crothers saying that locals and visitors to the town can enjoy an ode to an Aussie Christmas.
“This year's decorations carry a theme of community collaboration and festive cheer, with a touch of Australian Christmas spirit,” Mr Crothers said.
“The setup began in late November, and it has truly been a community-driven project, with everyone pitching in to ensure Corowa shines bright this festive season.
“The notable addition this year has been the decorated tractor tyres at four town entrances, which have added a unique and eye-catching element to our decorations.
“Using tractor tyres beautifully transformed into festive displays which was led by Rosemary Ferguson, with support from Anne Wescott and other members of the Events Group.
“The decorations in Sanger Street were made possible thanks to Focus Engineering, Federation Tree Care, and Hetherington Plumbing, who helped with hanging the bunting, Christmas signage, and the Christmas tree.
“The smaller Christmas trees displayed along Sanger Street and Wahgunyah were decorated by local primary schools and early childhood centres.
“These beautifully adorned trees were coordinated by Steve Kent and Harry Berger, and the businesses in the main street proudly showcase them, bringing the Christmas spirit to our region.
“The collaboration between different community groups and local businesses has also been more prominent, making this year's decorations a true testament to Corowa’s community spirit.”
Mr Crothers added that the events group is grateful for the assistance they already have, but are always after more.
“We absolutely welcome community involvement—both in terms of funding and helping with setup,” Mr Crothers said.
“The Corowa Events Group is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers and supporters to help us make our events special. Anyone interested in getting involved can reach out, and we’d love to have more hands-on board for future decorating efforts.
“We’re very proud of the community effort that’s gone into bringing the Christmas spirit to Corowa, and we hope it brings joy to everyone who visits.”
