Over 3,500 people lined Sanger Street eagerly waiting to see who would be crowned the 2019 McDonald’s Australia Billy Cart Champion.
Others enjoyed the warm weather by strolling through the Corowa Rotary Federation Markets, enjoying the children’s entertainment, viewing the vintage cars or relishing the hospitality of the many Sanger Street businesses.
Another drawcard was the introduction of race time transmitters!
Each Carts transponder automatically recorded and transmitted the time results to the recording desk achieving the committee’s goal of running a fully automatic electronic timing system.
Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke congratulated the 2019 Australian Billy Cart Champions and praised the sportsmanship displayed by all competitors who raced and paid thanks to the many event sponsors and supporters.
“A big thank you is also extended to the community groups who have supported and assisted this event for many years being Corowa VRA, Rotary Club of Corowa, Corowa Events for the Traffic Management, Corowa and District Historical Machinery Club,” Mayor Bourke said.
“The biggest thank you to all our volunteers that work on delivering the event year after year. Without you there is no Australian Billy Cart Championships and Council is thankful for your ongoing support.”
