The Corowa RSL Club will subsidise the return flights as a thank you to their much-loved employee, renowned in the community for famous Sri Lankan curries and array of tasty meal options.
Corowa RSL Club CEO Peter Norris thanked Dulan for his devotion to the club and the community.
“Dulan is always putting our local community and customers first. Despite our efforts to advise him to take time off, he just keeps showing up!” Mr Norris said.
“Dulan has played an instrumental role in delivering meals to the local community during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. He is dedicated to providing new and improved seasonal menus for the club’s bistro, cafe and Silks Lounge, along with providing a range of function menus to continue to bring people together to celebrate, share and enjoy.
“Dulan and his team’s commitment to our local community is second to none.
“As a result of this and in light of our communities understanding of recent staff shortages across the hospitality industry, we trust that we will have our communities support in sending Dulan home to Sri Lanka to spend time with his family to celebrate his much-loved mother’s 70th Birthday this coming October.”
Mr Norris said he wanted to ensure Dulan takes well deserved break “before things ramp up over the busy summer period.”
“We also need to ensure that Dulan’s supporting staff get a well-deserved break before our really busy period.”
Temporary adjustments to the club’s service will need to be made to accommodate Dulan’s absence. As a result, the club’s bistro service will be limited to Wednesday through to Sunday as of September 20, for an approximate period of six weeks.
Function bookings will be taken with consideration to ensuring adequate staffing levels and a continued guarantee of quality service.
Dulan advises that his kitchen will run otherwise normal service, under the trusted and capable hands, of sous chef Tracey Jones.
“Tracey and the team will ensure the quality and level of service remains consistent during this time,” he said.
The Corowa RSL Club management apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause to members and guests.
“We thank our community for their willingness to support Dulan and his team in advance,” Mr Norris said.
Any function or booking enquires during this time should be directed the Corowa RSL website or alternatively for functions via email at functions@corowarsl.com.au
The café will run as normal on Tuesdays over this period with no additional food offering. The remainder of club will operate as normal.
