She is a remarkable individual who has made significant contributions to the Australian Army.
Major Wyatt has served over 40 years in the Australian Army, having been corps-enlisted as a Nurse Assistant into the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps on February 2, 1984.
Upon completion of recruit and initial employment training, she fulfilled a number of trade, instructional, personnel and career management roles as well as advisory roles.
Major Wyatt continues to serve in a part time capacity at the Australian Defence Force School of Health at Latchford Barracks at Bonegilla as a Major in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps.
Her deployment history includes service as the Regimental Sergeant Major for Operation Pakistan Assist, November 2005 to April 2006. She was awarded in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her service on this humanitarian mission with a Conspicuous Service Medal.
Command appointments have included Company Sergeant Major at the Canberra Area Medical Centre and Regimental Sergeant Major of the 3rd Health Support Battalion; the Army School of Health; the Army Logistic Training Centre; and the Directorate of Soldier Career Management – Army.
In 2013 Major Wyatt served as the Army’s first female ‘Tier C’ Regimental Sergeant Major at Career Management Agency - Army. In 2014 she was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her significant service to Army as a Regimental Sergeant Major.
Major Wyatt completed a Bachelor of Training and Development in 2017 and holds diplomas in Training and Education, Human Resources and Health Administration.
Michelle is widowed, has three adult children and three grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her extended family and travelling. Over the last seven years she has volunteered as a legatee with the Albury Legacy Club fulfilling the presidency during Legacy’s Centenary Celebrations of 2023.
Michelle will retire from the Australian Defence Force later this year.
“In addition to Michelle, we will have the Rutherglen High School captains also delivering speeches, a job they always do so well,” Rutherglen RSL Sub Branch President Craig Williams said.

6am at Corowa - The Dawn Service will commence at 6am at the Cenotaph, I/S Sanger St and Honour Ave, Corowa followed by the Gunfire Breakfast at Club Corowa. Entry by ticket only, available at the Dawn Service and Gold coin donation on entry to Club Corowa.
9:30am at Wahgunyah - There will be a short march followed by a memorial service at the Monument at the John Foord bridge memorial.
10.30am at Corowa - Light Horse Members (Pony Club), marchers and vehicles to form up in that order in Sanger St (I/S Isabel St, (Comm Bank corner) and march the short distance to the Cenotaph.
11am at Corowa - The ANZAC Day Service will commence at 11am with the MC being Corowa High School students. Guest speaker is Commodore Peter Dowton, R.A.N. All schools will be represented, and other service and community groups invited to attend and lay a wreath.
12.30pm at Club Corowa - Light lunch to be served in the Lone Pine Room, Club Corowa, 30 Betterment Pde, Corowa. Cost: Corowa Sub-branch members $20, non-members $40, drinks included.
