Corowa Public School hosted 18 primary schools from across the district for the Regional Spelling Bee Final last Wednesday.

Senior school students Evelyn Hooper and Aria Glare participated for Corowa Public, along with Portia Johnston and Cohen Wilcox competing for the juniors.
Toby Spinks from Thurgoona Primary School was crowned regional champion for the senior spelling bee, with Tocumwal Primary School’s Alice Bourchier coming in second.
For the juniors, Isabella Holumbiyevska from Lavington Primary School earned first place and the runner up was Moama Primary School’s James Mason.
Both second and first place participants received a dictionary from event sponsor Macquarie, along with a novel.
Winners progress to the Premiers Spelling Bee State Final that will be held on Friday November 8 at the ABC Centre, Sydney.
