There were approximately 90 ninety bikes and 121 postie bike enthusiasts who fundraise to support sick and disadvantaged students and students living with disability. The riders who came throughout Australia enjoyed chatting to the students and sharing their stories.
“Thank you to Variety – the children’s charity who donated $4,977 worth of outdoor musical equipment to the school which will form part of the new school playground,” Corowa Public School Principal Helen Duncan said.
“Our students, together with their buddy classes, made cards and letters for children and enjoyed posting these into Postman Pat’s specially-made post-box postie bike.
“Corowa Public School P & C, together with Corowa High School hospitality students, served a delicious lunch to our Postie visitors. We are grateful to the Variety Club and all the riders for making Corowa Public School part of their journey.”
It was the 11th Variety Postie Bike Dash which started on Sunday, November 3. This unique event involved motorcycle enthusiasts mount their postie bike (Honda CT110, CT110X or NBC110) and make their way through 1300km of the gorgeous Australian bush and countryside from Yass through to Bright, Wagga Wagga and Cootamundra - giving back to kids in need along the way.
The Postie Bike Dash has raised more than $2 million over the past decade for Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT, and Variety hopes to raise $250,000 from the 2024 event to support kids who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.
Variety NSW/ACT CEO, Tony Warner said the Variety Postie Bike Dash is more than just a ride. “It's a journey of compassion and connection,” he said.
"Our motoring events have a long tradition of supporting kids and families in remote and rural areas in keeping with our mission to ensure all Australian children can reach their full potential, regardless of ability or background.”
Over $32,000 in grants were delivered to seven rural schools and community groups this year.
