Police work praised

Acting Inspector Jason Irving at Corowa Police Station with Deputy Premier Paul Toole and District Manager Murray River Police District Liz Hepburn.

NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole called into Corowa Police Station on Friday, September 30 following a visit to see the big upgrade in progress at Corowa Saleyards.

As Minister for Regional NSW and Minister for Police, Mr Toole was keen to see progress on the overall $11.6 million upgrade at the saleyards – as reported on in The Free Press last week – and to report to the police station.

“As Police Minister, I wanted to call in here,” he told The Free Press. “Police do a wonderful job protecting communities such as Corowa and district.

“Police are on the go 24:7 and I want police here to know face-to-face from me that their work is appreciated.”

Next call for the Deputy Premier was to Kennedy Park, Thompson’s Beach at Cobram to announce state government funding of $606,000 towards a major upgrade.

It was one of four projects to help NSW and Victorian border communities bounce back from the impacts of border restrictions under a $10 million Covid recovery round of the Cross-Border-Commissioner’s Infrastructure Fund.

Earlier, Mr Toole was in Albury regarding the other three projects, announcing $880,000 for Albury City Council towards an Animal Care Centre, $453,000 to Murray River Council towards broadband internet upgrades and $37,238 for Parklands Albury Wodonga Limited’s Murray River Adventure Trail project.
