After careful consideration and negotiations, the site for the proposed Corowa Off-Leash Dog Park has been officially agreed upon. The location of the old lawn tennis courts, which are no longer in use by the Corowa Tennis Club, has been selected as the future home for this canine haven. This decision marks a significant step forward in the project’s journey.
“The agreement of the site is a critical milestone as now the development of a project plan can begin which in turn will enable the group to work with the shire to secure funding via grants, fundraising and sponsorship,” the group’s Dot Coleman said.
The selected site is expected to provide ample space for dog owners to exercise their furry companions safely.
With this development, the Corowa Dog Lovers Inc can collaborate with the Federation Council to secure funding through grants, fundraising initiatives, and sponsorship opportunities.
Initial plans for the Corowa Off-Leash Dog Park include the construction of two separate fenced areas. One will cater to small or timid dogs, while the other will accommodate larger and more confident canines.
Key amenities such as accessible gates, well-defined paths, water stations, seating, shaded areas, waste disposal bins, and informative signage will also be incorporated into the park’s infrastructure. Additionally, measures will be taken to ensure that the active tennis courts are adequately screened from the dog park.
This facility is poised to enhance the Corowa sporting precinct, providing dog owners with a dedicated space to exercise and socialise with their pets. Moreover, it is expected to attract travellers who journey with their four-legged companions.
Community members who share the passion for this project are encouraged to join the Corowa Dog Lovers Inc and actively participate in its development. To get involved, interested individuals can reach out via email at corowadogparkgroup@gmail.com or join the “Corowa Enclosed Dog Park Group” on Facebook.
In a recent meeting attended by several members, including Cr Aaron Nicholls, the group not only solidified their commitment to the project but also adopted their new name Corowa Dog Lovers Inc, and created their mission and vision statements.
They also presented a preliminary park design for council to consider. With the site now secured and plans in motion, the group is now concentrating on securing funding to establish premises.
