The Victorian Government has confirmed funding to open a new kindergarten at a former Benalla P-12 College campus.
In June 2024, the school announced students at Clarke St would be amalgamated into its senior campus at Faithfull St.
This week, State Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn announced the site would be revitalised as a kindergarten, creating places the community desperately needs.
It will be one of 11 new kinders across Victoria, set to open by 2026/27.
“We’re building new kinders at schools right across the state, making quality kindergarten programs easier to access and making life easier for Victorian families,” Ms Blandthorn said.
“These kinders will create more than 1700 kindergarten places for Victorian children, bringing quality kindergarten programs to communities where they are needed most.”
The news aims to help local families will save time and avoid the dreaded double drop off.
The Victorian Government said it is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of three-year-old Kindergarten each week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of pre-prep each week by 2036.
