The outreach program provides opportunities for families across Victoria to enjoy a range of free art activities, creative programs and workshops throughout January.
The program will running from January 4 to 25 under the theme Let’s Make Art and will take place in Cobram, Euroa, Shepparton and Yarrawonga libraries, as well as more than 130 locations around Victoria.
Inspired by the 2022 NGV children’s exhibition Making Art: Imagine Everything is Real, which celebrated the work of some of the most innovative European artists of the 20th century including Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Natalia Goncharova and Remedios Varo, children will be encouraged to create drawings, sculptures, poems, portraits, collages and one-of-a-kind creatures.
NGV director Tony Ellwood said the program showed NGV’s commitment to inspire kids of all ages, and that big things were planned for next year’s program.
“The Kids on Tour program has demonstrated the NGV’s commitment to providing Victorians of all ages with the opportunity to engage with art, design and culture from Australia and around the world. The 2023 program will be our largest yet,” he said.
