For a second week in a row, local accommodation is almost completely booked out and restaurants, cafes and wineries are gearing up for a great weekend of trade.
All Saints Estate Sales and Marketing Director Angela Brown said she looked forward to welcoming music lovers back to the estate for a great weekend of entertainment.
“Preparations have begun, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another sensational weekend in Rutherglen,” she said.
“It will be a great weekend to celebrate all things Australian being the Anzac Day long weekend. The weather forecast looks also promising and it seems we’ve got the rain out of the way!”
Ms Brown said it was “fantastic” to see the local region thriving again after two years of pandemic restrictions put a strain on the tourism and hospitality industries.
“We are seeing people coming not only out of Melbourne but also, we’ve noticed quite a few from Canberra in recent months. It’s great to see,” she said.
“We have also noticed that people, particularly from Melbourne, who couldn’t travel far over the last few years discovered our region and now they keep on returning and bringing their friends and family.”
Ms Brown said the Easter long weekend was massive, a trend that has been constant for the last six months.
“Easter was wonderful at All Saints and St Leonards. We were booked out at our new dining venue Bonnie on both days. We probably could have booked out the restaurant 10 times over. Accommodation was booked out really early as well,” she said.
“Everyone seemed to be really relaxed and having a good time which was really lovely to see after the couple of tricky years we’ve had.
“We’ve been flat out for probably the last six months. It's been fabulous. The next six months there’s hardly a spot for accommodation. Plenty of weddings and events that were postponed coming up. We’ve got three weddings happening this weekend alone.”
Sunday’s big concert forms part of the Oil’s farewell tour as their memorable career comes to a close.
The much-anticipated event was postponed after drummer Rob Hirst’s tested positive to COVID-19 last month during Tastes of Rutherglen.
The band is set to perform their biggest hits as well as tracks from their new album Resist which features 12 new songs the band recorded with long time bass player Bones Hillman before his passing in 2020.
The album will be Midnight Oil’s 15th studio release since the band exploded out of the post-punk scene back in 1978, blazing a singular trail of blistering gigs through Australia’s pubs and clubs.
The concert will also feature a broad array of Australian sounds including the mighty Hoodoo Gurus and acclaimed singer songwriters All Our Exes Live In Texas.
Transport is available from Corowa, Rutherglen, Yarrawonga, Mulwala, Albury, Wodonga and Howlong with limited paid parking available on site at All Saints Estate.
