The afternoon tea was organised by Southern Cross Care's Facility Manager Jennifer Tull who said that the residents had a strong sense of community and wanted to do what they could to help those in need.
“Southern Cross Care’s partnership with Amaranth Foundation is a chance for residents to not only stay connected with the community, but also help locals who are doing it tough including those who are fleeing domestic violence, experiencing homelessness, and struggling to put food on the table,” she said.
“Rural and remote areas have limited resources so this is about the community coming together to help each other out and stop reinventing the wheel. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Amaranth Foundation.”
The partnership with Amaranth Foundation is an opportunity for the residents to stay connected with the community and make a positive impact.
Amaranth Foundation CEO Julianne Whyte OAM expressed her gratitude for the support and highlighted the importance of partnerships between organisations and the community.
“Thank you to Karinya Southern Cross Homes - Corowa for an amazing fundraising afternoon tea,” Ms Whyte said.
“The funds raised will go towards supporting Amaranth’s social impact programs, which provide relief and support to people experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or struggling to put food on the table.
“The partnership between Southern Cross Care Karinya and Amaranth Foundation is a great example of how communities can come together to support those in need. By working together, organisations and community members can make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable people.”
Over the coming months, Southern Cross Care residents will also contribute to the Food Bowl program by making food hampers from donated non-perishable goods. This program helps to provide essential food items to people in need, particularly those living in rural and remote areas where resources are limited.
