The school firmly believes in providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner can develop their values, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills through a range of experiences and opportunities.
Recognising the importance of continuous improvement for students, families, and staff, St Mary’s has recently undertaken a significant refurbishment project to create contemporary and purpose-built facilities. These new facilities are designed to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of the students, ensuring they have access to the best possible learning environment.
Among the noteworthy additions to the campus is the updated administration building, which now boasts several functional spaces to cater to various requirements. Additional meeting spaces have been introduced to accommodate external visiting student support partners, fostering stronger connections between the school and the wider community.
Another key addition to the administration building is a dedicated space for the student Wellbeing Practitioner, recognising the significance of emotional and mental well-being in the learning process. A sensory space has also been incorporated to provide a nurturing environment for students who benefit from sensory experiences.
One of the highlights of the refurbishment is the establishment of a new school library, encouraging a love for reading and expanding the students’ access to knowledge and resources. Complementing this, a purpose-built STEM/STEAM Makerspace has been introduced, encouraging students to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and maths through hands-on activities and projects.
St Mary’s is also embracing the importance of arts and music education, reflected in the addition of a new Music room to nurture the creative talents of its students.
Furthermore, understanding the significance of practical learning, a dedicated activities space, including a student-accessible kitchen for cooking-related lessons, has been introduced.
The refurbishment also extends to the classroom settings, with three classrooms being transformed into flexible and adaptable learning environments. This adaptability allows teachers to cater to different teaching styles and individual learning needs, ensuring every student gets the attention and support they require to thrive.
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School takes pride in the strong partnership it maintains with parents and the local community. This collaborative effort has earned the school a well-deserved reputation for providing a high-quality learning environment.
As a result, St. Mary’s students have gained recognition for their leadership qualities and readiness for secondary studies.
The school’s ultimate goal is to equip its students with the tools and mindset necessary to become lifelong learners. By fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment, St. Mary’s aims to empower its students to achieve their full potential and flourish in all aspects of life.
