Dead branches were cut, removed and mulched from the cemetery’s Murray Pine trees on March 26 by Federation Care Team Corowa.
Eight tall, dangerous, dead trees and another, which had been struck by lightning, were previously removed.
A financial grant was obtained from Department of Health for the works.
Chairman of the John Foord Cemetery Trust, Alan Pleitner said the Federation Care Team did a brilliant job.
“They were meticulous and careful, amd very mindful of the sacred site” Mr Pleitner said.
‘’The mulch has been taken to Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve for better ground cover, especially in the winter.”
Mr Pleitner said it was right to recognise and respect the people who did so much to set Wahgunyah up.
The names of 67 internments at the private cemetery are on the cemetery notice board of early settlers’ families, including John Foord 11 (1819-1883) founder of Wahgunyah.
The centenary of his burial was commemorated on January 30, 1983.
