The Cobram Lions Art Show is an annual event which incorporates within it a larger Lions International event.
There are three main categories that participants may enter: the general division, the tourism poster division and the peace poster division.
The tourism and peace poster categories are only open to children aged 10-14 years, while the peace poster division is part of a wider Lions International competition with winners able to move forward to different level of judging.
This year the tourism poster entry has the theme “silo art trail” and the peace poster division is running on the theme of “dare to dream”.
The general division is for entries depicting any subject and any medium in static visual art.
As for prizes, there will be up to $250 cash prizes for winners, broken down as follows:
Best art, 10-14 years old - $250.
Best in tourism poster and peace poster - $50.
Best art for those 15 years and over - $250.
Entrants between the ages of 10-14 may enter into multiple categories, though only one entry in each category is allowed.
Entrants over the age of 15 may enter up to two works in the general division only.
All entries must be made on A2 paper which can be picked up at the Cobram Newsagency.
Cobram Lions secretary Janet Austin said anyone wishing to give it a go shouldn’t hesitate to put their foot forward and that preparing for the event was a great way to keep kids entertained these school holidays.
“For the children it’s an opportunity that they don’t normally get,” Ms Austin said.
“Particular the international competition. The peace poster is a chance of a lifetime to enter into an international competition and win a fabulous prize.”
