It was abdication day for the latest Red Hatters Party on Thursday, October 31 at the Royal Hotel Corowa when Lesley Starr, alia ‘Arty Farty’ seated in middle, who started the Corowa Chapter two years ago, handed over the reins to Helen Miller, alias ‘Lady Lugh A Lot’, seated second from right. One of the local 28-member group, known as ‘Dutchess of Vice’, told The Free Press this international and Australia-wide organisation is for “over 55 age women, growing old disgracefully and dressing in red and purple having a great old time with a no complaints on the agenda” at their regular get togethers.
A story telling by Aunty Trish
A story telling by Aunty Trish Cerminara (pictured with Maree Castles of Arts Rutherglen) will be held by the banks of Sunday Creek Pfeiffers Winery Rutherglen this Sunday, November 10 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Aunty Trish is a renowned and much-loved artist, sculptor, weaver, writer and story teller from Wodonga. “To me, writing is like painting. It builds a person, creates conversations, heals a broken mind and mends a heart,” Aunty Trish said. It's $40 per person, AR members $37, children a gold coin donation. Staying safe online
The Corowa Business Chamber is excited to announce an upcoming community seminar focused on "Staying Safe Online." To be presented by Branch Manager of the Commonwealth Bank Corowa, Nicky Sangwell, the event will cover vital information on how to protect yourself and your business from scams and cyber threats.
Ms. Sangwell, who recently joined the Corowa Business Chamber, is eager to educate the community around online security, a topic that's crucial for everyone in today's digital age.
This seminar is free and open to the public, making it a great opportunity for both business owners and community members to learn how to stay safe from scams and fraud.
The seminar is being held on Tuesday, November 19 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at Club Corowa.

Rutherglen Lions 50th anniversary
Rutherglen Lions Club would love to hear from those who will attend the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations on Sunday, November 17, from 11.30am for 12noon start. Committee organisers are keen to hear numbers attending for catering purposes in the Rutherglen Senior Citizens clubrooms, for what will be a big milestone achievement. Bangerang Park Multicultural Christmas Celebration
The newly formed Corowa event Group have a wonderful multicultural christmas event scheduled for November 29 at Bangerang Park, starting at 5pm. It will feature food stalls, cultural performances, and Christmas carols to bring our community together. Please find the event flyer attached.
Late Night Shopping and Festivities
Two Thursday night late shopping opportunities will be held in Corowa during December, similar to last year, which would include busking, BBQs, and community vouchers to create a festive shopping atmosphere in Sanger Street.
Bingo for charity
Friends of the Corowa Hospital and Nursing Home Inc. would like to remind everyone that Cash Bingo is held on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm at Club Corowa, and Charity Bingo takes place on Friday afternoons at 2:00pm, also at Club Corowa. All proceeds from both events go directly to support the Corowa Hospital and Nursing Home. New members are always welcome to join us in raising funds for this important cause.
Corowa Rescue Squad Trivia Night
The Corowa Rescue Squad. VRA Rescue NSW Trivia Night (including silent auction and various prizes) will be held on Saturday, November 9 at the Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve (Wahgunyah Footy Club). Arrive: 6:30 pm for a 7:00 pm start Table - 8 people maximum Cost per table: $160 (BYO food) OR $200 (grazing box by Bluegum Café & Catering) No Byo Drinks - Drinks at bar price. Wrap with Love
This year the Corowa group of Wrap with Love was asked to transfer Wraps to AKWAK (Australians Knitting for War affected Kids). Based in Melbourne, a Syrian Group collected and distributed Wraps to Syria Free of charge. AKWAK is packing bags containing Gum boots, Sox, Underwear, Jumpers, scarves and berets and will include a Wrap for each child with all they need for the school year. Many of the children come from camps where there has been no education for years. It is easy to see how precious these gifts are for them. Corowa group of Wrap with Love with the help of some Lockhart ladies, has contributed 165 Wraps this year. Our thanks to all the Corowa ladies who continue to provide many squares for the Wraps.
