Wrap with Love
This year the Corowa group of Wrap with Love was asked to transfer Wraps to AKWAK (Australians Knitting for War affected Kids). Based in Melbourne, a Syrian Group collected and distributed Wraps to Syria Free of charge. AKWAK is packing bags containing Gum boots, Sox, Underwear, Jumpers, scarves and berets and will include a Wrap for each child with all they need for the school year. Many of the children come from camps where there has been no education for years. It is easy to see how precious these gifts are for them. Corowa group of Wrap with Love with the help of some Lockhart ladies, has contributed 165 Wraps this year. Our thanks to all the Corowa ladies who continue to provide many squares for the Wraps. They just keep coming! Area contacts: Carmel Packer 6033 0996 Bev Barron 6033 2766.

Rutherglen Emergency Mapping and Planning Workshops
Indigo Shire is inviting community members to come together and collaborate on the Rutherglen Emergency Reference Map and accompanying Rutherglen Community Emergency Management Plan.
Come to the workshops to identify hazards, resources, and valued areas of your community. Contribute your local knowledge and experience to develop a Community Emergency Management Plan.
An Emergency Reference Map is a quick reference to key locations relevant to an emergency. It depicts a simplified map of Rutherglen, and some key services available. The back page contains information on keeping up to date and informed, and emergency contact numbers. A summary of important local knowledge makes the map unique to Rutherglen.
A Community Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) is a guide to help newcomers and locals alike to make the right decisions for them when planning for an emergency, responding to a hazard, and in recovery.
The plan highlights some of the unique characteristics of Rutherglen in an emergency, provides planning pointers, identifies sources of information and support, and is a quick-reference guide for local key contacts, particularly for recovery.
Importantly, this plan is not a guide to tell you where to go or what to do in an emergency. Your survival relies on good planning by you.
The workshops are on Wednesday, October 16 and Wednesday, November 6 from 6-8pm at the Rutherglen RSL Rooms, 153 Main Street Rutherglen. Light refreshments will be provided.
In addition to attending the workshops, you can also contribute to the project online at Engaged Indigo https://engage.indigoshire.vic.gov.au/rutherglen-community-emergency-planning or by contacting Kate at kate.otoole@indigoshire.vic.gov.au or 1300 365 003. Consultation will be open until November 20, 2024.
