In his Hawthorn football jumper, Federation Council’s General Manager Adrian Butler had long borrowed dark hair to emulate Hawks’ forward Jack Ginnivan last Thursday.
There were plenty of other AFL jumpers, including the red, white and blue Australia Flag coloured Western Bulldogs, and scarfs by other council staff, including deputy general manager Jo Shannon in a Crows outfit and finance manager decked out in the Roos.
It was part of Federation Council’s role in Fight Cancer Foundation's Footy Colours Day to help kids.
Every year more than 950 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in Australia. With treatment starting instantly, they face, on average, more than six months away from their school and school friends.
Federation Council staff raised $673 which was $50 more than last year. The money will help the Fight Cancer Foundation to provide accommodation and support for cancer patients and their families, and fund vital life-saving research into cancer treatment and cures.
The accommodation centres offer families living with cancer a home away from home when they need it most, reducing the financial and emotional burden of a cancer diagnosis.
