“We have come a long way,” Practice Manager Dr Ayon Guha told clinic staff at first anniversary celebrations last Wednesday.
“Thank you to all the staff. It’s something we should be proud of. We’ve had a lot of support from the local community, taking it up in a big way.”
Dr Guha said he has been amazed at the huge number of patients making use of Redgum Skin Care Clinic.
“A lot of patients have never had a skin care check-up but they’re coming in now,” he said. “We recently detected five melanomas in one week.”
There’s still a lot to do according to Dr Guha who said he would always welcome new ideas. It was, in fact, his idea two years ago in researching the possibility of a skin care clinic for six months before proceeding with the specific clinic for Corowa.
“So far it’s been a great journey again I say a big thank you to all the staff.”
Expansion of Redgum Clinic work can occur, he said, when the new medical centre is constructed expected early in the New Year, in nearby Guy Street on the old nurses home site which has been cleared of the building.
Negotiations with a tenderer from Albury continue, with steel and costs to be finalised. Expectations are that hopefully, by this time next year, an opening of the new centre may also be celebrated.
