A strong contingent of sitting councillors will re-contest their positions, with an even split of new and familiar faces.
The sitting councillors who have nominated are (in alphabetical order by surname): Rob Amos, Paul Jarman, Daniel Mackrell, Tony Marwood, Adrian Weston and John Zobec.
The other candidates are (in alphabetical order by surname): Deb Chumbley, Zoe Cook, Michael Farrant, Jessica Mitchell, Brett Ould and Luke Sharrock.
Candidate profiles are being progressively published online and in the Riv, Campaspe News and Ky Free Press during the election lead-up.
The ballot order will be decided at 10am tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18, at the Campaspe Shire Council Election Office, the former Echuca Moama visitor information centre.
The closing of nominations at noon on Tuesday, September 17 also marked the beginning of the election or ‘caretaker’ period for Campaspe Shire Council.
Until 6pm on Saturday, October 26, Victorian local councils are limited in their activities so that council resources cannot be used to influence election results.
These are guided by the election policy, accessible on the Campaspe Shire Council website.
This election will be the first with an unsubdivided structure, with candidates representing the shire as a whole instead of in wards.
Ballot packs will be sent to enrolled voters from Monday, October 7, to be completed and posted back or dropped off by Friday, October 25 at 6pm.
The official ballot order will be published in Friday’s Riv, next Tuesday’s Campaspe News and next Wednesday’s Ky Free Press.
