John Zobec resides in Kyabram where he was born, grew up and raised his family.
He currently lives on his family property and helps operate and manage his family’s business.
Mr Zobec has previously served as a Campaspe Shire councillor and along the way gained a strong understanding of council operations and acquired skills and knowledge to represent the community.
“I will ensure accountability for Campaspe residents by being available, approachable and engaging with people across the shire and ensuring the communities are treated fairly and represented equally,” he said.
If elected, Mr Zobec hopes he can improve liveability, education and tertiary pathways in Campaspe Shire’s communities to diversify employment opportunities for our shire’s youngest and brightest.
He also wants to ensure accountability for Campaspe Shire ratepayers and is committed to “prudent financial management” to drive economic efficiency.
As a councillor, he ensures transparency and fluid communication with the community to advocate for every inch of the shire for improvement to community facilities, road infrastructure, footpaths, transport and rural and regional land use strategies.
“Communication is the most appropriate method to bring issues forward, to listen, be open and honest and ensure a strong community engagement, transparent and equitable delivery of services,” he said.
Mr Zobec said in his two terms as a councillor he developed good relationships across the shire which equipped him with community knowledge, local government skills, good governance and the ability to engage openly with the Campaspe community.
Campaspe Shire is his home and he believes it is the perfect location: from the Murray right on our doorstep to the surrounding natural environment and wonderful attractions across the community.
He believes the community and council need to partner to build and expand on our existing natural resources for the future’s sake.
“The diverse cultures, our resilient, strong and connected communities, makes Campaspe a friendly and wonderful place to live and raise a family,” he said.
