Adrian Weston has lived, worked and farmed in Campaspe for most of his life, growing up in the region’s south in Rushworth.
He has been a councillor for Campaspe Shire for 12 years, serving four of those years as Mayor.
In that time, he has gained a plethora of knowledge and skills that he said he will put to good use for of all communities across the shire if re-elected.
“I enjoy listening to and helping people as well as working with communities to help achieve the things that are important to them,” Mr Weston said.
Growing economic development is an issue he finds important to focus on, especially in supporting the farming sector, attracting new and innovative business, and growing existing industries to enhance their prosperity.
He also believes in the importance of keeping our water in our region, and as a whole, he said strong advocacy is the key to highlighting all of these issues.
To Mr Weston, good governance, collaboration and respect with fellow councillors is the most effective way to create the best outcomes for the community.
But, communication, honesty and following up with the community themselves is the most essential part of the role, he said.
“I will represent the entire Campaspe Shire by continuing to engage with people across our towns and districts to listen to understand their issues and aspirations.”
As he heads into a new election term, he brings in his community-based skills and knowledge that have grown and continue to grow with each term of council.
He said he believes that the relationships developed and the understanding of the opportunities and challenges that lay in Campaspe’s future perfectly equip him for the role of a councillor.
Mr Weston said what he loves the most about Campaspe Shire is the abundance of natural resources across the region which have made the community prosperous.
“I love our strong and resilient community spirit. Campaspe is a great place to live and raise a family and council, working in partnership with communities, can grow our future together.”
