Ball to benefit sick kids

Children with cancer will be the beneficiary of an event at Bunnaloo in March.

The Four Halls and a Weigh Bridge Committee will present The Bunnaloo Ball on March 1, with proceeds going to the Children’s Cancer Institute.

It seems the fish have been biting well lately, but some anglers have apparently been taking far more than their fair share.

This has resulted in their receiving a visit from the NSW Fisheries officers.

Not only would they have lost their catch, but no doubt could also have faced a decent fine.

Locals will have been saddened by the recent passing of John Bently from the Bendigo Bank.

John was a board director of the Tongala and Mathoura Community Bank.

He gained great enjoyment from giving away the bank’s money to support the efforts of Mathoura Public School and local organisations.

Condolences go to JB’s family and fellow members of bank staff, at both Tongala and Mathoura.

It’s that time of year again, with Mathoura Football Netball Club gearing up for another season of netball.

A-grade to C-reserve and minis to under-17s netballers are included in trials currently underway.

Check with the club regarding days and times.
