The celebrations for the Federation Council will begin with a breakfast at 8am at ClubMulwala, Mulwala before the official event kicks off at 10am.
The official ceremony will begin with a Welcome to Country before attendees will hear from the 2023 Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Ange Clarke.
Following Ms Clarke will be the announcement of the Federation Council Citizen of the Year Award, Young Citizen of the Year Award, Community Group the Year Award, and recognition of the Federation Council Local Achiever recipients.
Federation Council will then acknowledge their youngest residents whose school has specially nominated them for their sporting, community, and academic achievements under the Student Achiever Awards.
Attendees will also celebrate together as the shire welcome new Australians who today become citizens, before joining together for the singing of the national anthem led by local singers, Judy McNamara and Penny Reeves.
Wahgunyah
Australia Day celebrations in Wahgunyah kick off at 9:30am, with a community BBQ at the Willows Recreation Reserve. The event is proudly hosted by the Wahgunyah Progress Association with all local residents invited to attend.
Rutherglen
The Rotary Club of Rutherglen will host a community breakfast, entertainment and awards presentation from 7:45am at Lions Park, Douglas Street.
Chiltern
The Chiltern community morning tea kicks off at 9:45am at the Tourist Park in Main Street.
