A field of 96 golfers across 24 teams, teed off as part of this year’s event at the Corowa Golf Club raising more than $9000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The event, postponed from October last year due to flooding, was a 4 player Ambrose format, designed for both serious and social golfers alike with many fun novelty events around the 18-hole course.
The TH Kitchens and Joinery team returned as sponsors of the $1,000 Hole-in-One which created much excitement amongst the field, but unfortunately did not go off.
Chester’s Transport, Federation Tree Care, Build 24, Hetherington Plumbing, and Moloney Real Estate sponsored the majority of prizes for the day, with a $400 prize for the winning team, $200 for second place and over a dozen other prizes up for grabs.
Many other fun challenges and great prizes were on offer during the day, including the fines challenge, with players encouraged to fine their team mates for golfing misdemeanours.
A new addition to the course was the Waldron’s Fresh on River “Wheel of Fore-tune” with players trying their luck at spinning up the chance for some great prizes while trying to avoid landing on a challenge.
Corowa Wahgunyah Good Friday Appeal Area Managers Karie Playford, Ali Playford and Lauren Bath were delighted with the success of the day and the amount raised for the cause.
“We would like to thank everyone who participated today for their support. Our inaugural event raised $7,500 for the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2021 and we’re thrilled to be doing it all again,” Ms Bath said.
The winning team of the day was Ethan Hanrahan, Justin Lewis, Ethan Palmer and Riley Allan who collected the $400 prize.
The Good Friday Appeal local area managers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to those who helped coordinate the outstanding event.
“We were initially disappointed that we had to postpone our original event in October due to the floodwaters, however the weather today has been beautiful,” Ms Bath said.
“A huge thank you to the Corowa Golf Club for getting the ground back up and running and in a great condition.
“We’d like to thank the Corowa Golf Club for hosting the event, a big thank you to Daniel Peacock, Carly Detlefsen who took over, James and the pro shop team, Brett and the greens keeping crew, the catering team and all the volunteers who helped set up today.
“The second lot of thanks goes to our wonderful sponsors TH Kitchens and Joinery, Chester’s Transport, Federation Tree Care, Build 24, Hetherington Plumbing, Moloney Real Estate. These guys are amazing, and we couldn’t have done it without their support.
“Thanks also to Essential Beauty Corowa, Stanton and Killeen, Balldale Hotel, Corowa Newmarket Hotel and Poppy Emporium, Campbells Wines, and Sportspower.”
