Campaspe Library librarian Anna Bonomini has made a list of kids’ Christmas books that share the Christmas spirit.
The books that have made the list are suitable for young children, pre-schoolers and older children.
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh
Hold tight - we’re checking permissions before loading more content
One of the more popular Christmas children’s books at the Campaspe Library, this is the ninth book in the ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon’ series by Mo Williams.
The book is cartoony, easy for children to read, funny and excellent for the whole family to engage in the story together.
A Very Dinosaur Christmas
Children find dinosaurs super fascinating, but should they really be part of Christmas?
A Very Dinosaur Christmas combines Christmas and Jurassic characters with lively rhymes and hilarious illustrations, poses this question.
Emma Memma Christmas Lights
Sing, dance, sign and join Emma Memma for a magical Christmas story time, along with Elvin Melvin.
It’s a bright and happy story that reflects Emma’s creative and inclusive approach.
Wombat Divine
The Mem Fox classic is the story of Wombat, who loves Christmas.
He loves the cards and the candles, the presents and the pudding, but most of all, he loves the Nativity play.
But finding a part for Wombat is not easy. Families continue to enjoy this old favourite.
12 Days of Bush Christmas
A beautiful children’s picture book written and illustrated by Emma Bamblett (Wemba Wemba, Gunditjmara, Ngadjonji and Taungurung) and Megan Van Den Berg (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta and Boon Wurrung)
On the first day of Christmas, there’s a kookaburra laughing in a gum tree. On the second, a coolamon. What will 12 days of Christmas bring?
Bluey’s Night Before Christmas
All children (and adults) love Bluey, so of course, Bluey’s Night Before Christmas had to make the list.
‘Twas the night before Chrissie, when inside their home, not a Heeler was stirring, not even a gnome.
It’s Christmas Eve, and Bluey and Bingo are tucked up snug in their beds. When suddenly a noise outside wakes them up ... Who could it be?
